As it turned out the NATO summit was a damp squib. It was a lovefest and photo op for the Western leaders while Zelenski got less than nothing. Biden had to circumvent his own rules to approve the sending of cluster bombs while other NATO members couldn't contenance such a move.

The sending of these cluster weapons, very effective in maiming and killing civilians but pretty ineffective in the current field of battle, doesn't signal an escalation but rather that Ukraine's supply is drying up. The UK are sending a days supply of shells.

It should be noted that Zelenski is really pissed off with NATO at the moment and the sentiment from NATO is reciprocated. With friends like NATO who needs enemies.
