Excellent article. The myth surrounding capitalism goes hand in hand with the assumed linear rise in human progress which is so evidently not true. The ancient Greeks knew the world was round, they knew its diameter and how far away the sun was yet Copernicus didn't are dare expose these truths in his lifetime for fear of committing heresy and this was in the time of enlightenment. The American Indians noted how unhygienic and petty the Europeans were who landed on their shores while they and the natives of Australia were wiped out because of the disease ridden invaders.

There is no sense of progress amongst indigenous peoples. Instead there is a deep sense of indebtedness to their forebears who were wise enough to allow nature to teach them.
