Excellent article. I'm pleased you brought up the Lakeland Fells in England. I have to agree that social conditioning is a big issue but I'm not sure your example best describes our current condition which I think is more to do with subjective thinking. I recall watching a comedy and not finding it funny. It was only when I watched it with others that I began to laugh.

On reflection I think we do need collective thinking but first we need to break free of the messaging coming through the political class and the media.
