From being 'born again' in 1978 to considering myself a post-evangelical 3 decades later (and now well out of it) I can see clearly how the descent into becoming a hyper-nationalist, right wing cult was inevitable. If only the Evangelical leaders had read their own scriptures they'd recognise that, according to those scriptures, they are the worst of the worst.
