I disagree. You can arrive at truth through philosophy. Also facts are not necessarily true by definition. They are empirically derived and must be disprovable to be accepted as facts. The point is that facts are evidence based which is why they are so important. But the difference between facts and truth is similar to the distinction between data and information. Data is a factual (but sometimes opaque) collection that upon analysis reveals useful information.
