I grew up believing Hiroshima was a pragmatic decision. Its really no excuse to say I wasn't aware that the US knew full well that the war was effectively over because that should have made any difference, just like pictures of Dresden should have chilled me to my bones when they didn't.

Anyone who uses pragmatism as an excuse should be firmly put in their place. Its absolutely unacceptable.
