I started out following your logic. Yes working class people are voting more conservative and part of that is the comfort it brings. They are fitting into the established order which means they no longer have to fight to belong.
But if you look at the 2017 UK elections where Jeremy Corbyn laid down a very clear vision, working class people were up for it. The right wing media were caught off guard and right wing politicians were caught by their hubris.
Corbyn could have won if his own party hadn’t sabotaged the election.
I do think democracy is idolised as if it were the magic pill but I believe your analysis is wrong as if you’ve reached the conclusion you were looking for.
