I think I see where you’re coming from. It’s like we play a yin to their yang, thus maintaining an equilibrium. We should play a double yang, parodying their hypocrisy. I’m growing tired of Pride marches because they are now being sponsored and cheered on by evil corporations and some of its enthusiastic participants are, at best, ambivalent about Israeli genocide. What inspires me is trans people on pro Palestine marches.
I do go on marches and write to my MP. But I publish my correspondence on social media because I know I’m being patronised. It strikes me that your very frustration is itself a kind of resistance.
One of my frustrations is when folk have rallies and marches thinking they are actually making a difference when there’s no quantifiable way of knowing that. A healthier approach is to say “I will do this whether it makes a difference or not”.
