I understand where you’re coming from but you’re painting a caricature based on your own perceptions. The rise of the left and the dominance of social liberalism have given rise to an intolerance of what are conventional biases which are then automatically seen as a symptom of patriarchy and imperialism.

Pressure groups once marginalised are now dictating social convention and sucking the oxygen out of progressivism. It’s not a left phenomenon at all, it’s just infected the left and is being weaponised by centrists to render us ineffective. Social democrats like Bernie Sanders are forced to navigate a political minefield where the left, centre and right conspire over self interests.

It’s evident in the UK Labour leadership election. Every candidate is being bullied into signing pledges to ensure they conform to purity tests of different interest groups and party members are being thrown under the bus for questioning the new laws whose only authority is that of self proclaimed arbiters of justice.

Ordinary people to the right and the left of the political spectrum want an end to wars, an end to austerity and an establishment of justice. It’s the centrists who now hold the aces and they don’t give a damn that they are fragmenting the left, the only political coalition that has any chance of saving our planet.
