I understand where you're coming from. The suffering of a woman robbed of her husband and child is unbearable. 2,000 mothers losing their loved ones cannot be 2,000 times worse. It would be intolerable to diminish your suffering because Gaza had more casualties.

I won't argue the case for the media (I don't respect the New York Times or value its opinion) but when I read the comparisons it doesn't diminish your suffering in my eyes. I'm not even thinking about the suffering when it comes to those numbers.

The intensity of the bombing is also compared with the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. It speaks more to the insanity of the war machine than to the relative suffering of the victims.
