I'm afraid I have to correct you. Firstly the Conservatives haven't really run out of ideas, they're simply rehashing the same ideas they've always had. What's different is that the UK is in such a mess that it can no longer tolerate Tory policies.

Your second mistake is supposing that the Tories are in any way redeemable. They are not. Aneurin Bevan (father of the UK's National Health Service) said of the Tories:

"No amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party... So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin. They condemned millions of first-class people to semi-starvation."

Something else you've overlooked is that the only way you can reign in right wingers is to have an effective opposition. They will never reign themselves in. There was an effective opposition in Jeremy Corbyn but the establishment, with the aid of the Labour Party itself (ostensibly the official opposition), made sure he never got to power. Instead Labour now has a leader as much a part of the establishment as any Tory.

The only way out of this catastrophe is a peoples rebellion or revolution.
