It would never have occurred to me that it didn’t apply to everyone. It’s like arguing with someone and having to define and justify every principle you would naturally assume was taken for granted.

Israel can define its own rules and argue its case on the basis that everyone else, and all conventional wisdom, is wrong but that’s like a man defending himself with a circle of fire that ultimately consumes him.
