Northern Gaza in plain English
I remember when it was non-negotiable to call for peace. But was peace merely the high we got from ending a war rather an alternative to that war? We talked of a war to end all wars but that’s like saying “Let’s have a feast to end all feasts”. The West knows that all conflicts must end in peace but is terminally addicted to war.
We are now in a time of transparency. Gaza is a theatre where we are watching a performance that all our memorials seek to hide. Instead of one or two minutes of silence, there are explosions, gun fire, screaming and wailing. Death is not alluded to, its graphically portrayed and we must choose to look away.
We have meaningless ceremonies that speak of peace yet scream out war. Silence is the native tongue of hypocritical Western leaders. But when they speak they lie. When they say “Let me be clear”, they mean “Let me gaslight you”. They treat us like sheep while they are goats — but but but.
When their solemn gatherings disperse, the words “you have learned nothing” should be ringing in their ears. They who promote and make excuses for war deserve no peace. To those elected officials who ask for a conditional ceasefire we say, “Yes. Here’s the condition. You demand an unconditional ceasefire now or we’ll get rid of you.”
