One of the big problems with the Evangelical church (much like the Catholic church) is that its rooted in Moses, not Christ. If they were truly evangelical they would centre their faith on the Gospels where no one is condemned for their sexual orientation or breaking rules. When Jesus told the Pharisees that they were committing adultery by looking at a woman it wasn't so that every man who found someone attractive would start whipping himself, it was because the Pharisees condemned those who had visibly strayed when they would have done worse if they could keep it quiet.

The church leaders expose the lie by exploiting the poor and POC, enriching themselves and seeing it all as honouring God as if Solomon was the model of virtue. They strain gnats and swallow camels. They amplify God's grace by being the worst sinners, pouring gallons of precious oil over themselves and then peddling droplets to those who can't afford it. And just as the Pharisees went to the ends of the earth to make converts, turning them into sons of hell like they were, so these preachers peddle a false gospel to make more hypocrites in their image.

Jesus did not come to modernise the law, he came to defund it. He came to take its power away, to free oppressed people from guilt. He told us that no one who does not honour his neighbour will be acceptable to God.
