Musing on Keir Starmer’s just deserts
Humans are born with an innate sense of justice. This is evident in children’s reactions to injustices. Our moral frameworks might get distorted or even inverted but we maintain bounds of acceptability. Hardened criminals could be accused of hypocrisy but being imprisoned for child abuse is quite likely a death sentence — not at the hands of the state but of other prisoners. It’s said that there is honour among thieves, an honour code that might seem absurd but is held nevertheless. Even in associations where immoral actions are their MO there is a line that cannot be crossed.
The movers and shakers in the Labour Party might be power junkies but they’re not stupid. They must have seen what we see — that Starmer is unlikeable, creepy, dishonest and unconvincing
It’s widely accepted that Tony Blair should be classed as a war criminal but it’s highly unlikely he will ever be prosecuted for stealing paperclips never mind mass killings based upon a blatant lie. He’s clearly a member of an elite club that protects its own even when it comes to paedophilia. Blair’s posture exudes confidence with a conviction that his impunity is sealed.
