The tedious reheating of empire

Crisis what crisis

Yesterday Julian Assange was given leave to challenge his extradition, in what Chris Hedges has called a pyrrhic victory. In effect, Assange’s lawyers have been given the right to appeal what the courts know to be outrageous injustices that any judge worth their salt would throw out with the garbage. It’s absurdity is monumental yet we are obliged to watch the emperor pass by with its penis on display for all to see.

The US’s floating pier in Gaza is yet another dick pic with USAID being its ball sack. To call this ‘theatre’ is to give it status way beyond that which it deserves. It’s neo-colonial porn that western politicians get off on. It’s scriptwriters are bought off to the extent that no degree of shame can offset. Their descent into perversion entirely escapes them because it has become the new normal.

We are seeing empire stripped of all its vain glory, destined to whore itself on the altar of hegemony. Happy to divest itself of any self respect or consideration of those it supposedly represents, it’s not only prepared to eat from dumpsters and smoke discarded cigarettes, but to tout this as upcycling. Rather than throwing out the mould ravaged fruit, it’s remarketed.
