The British haven't suddenly fallen asleep. We were pricked by Thatcher's needle in the 80's. If Labour comes to power in 2024 some pills will be easier to swallow, nothing will fundamentally change and everyone will set their alarm clocks to snooze. The best we can hope for is to have a hung Parliament and for campaign groups to throw sand in the gears of the government.
