Arrest warrant issued for Vladimir Putin & Maria Lvova-Belova
An arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin & Maria Lvova-Belova has been issued by the ICC on the charge of war crimes, in particular the evacuation of children from Ukraine to Russia. I don’t want to get into the nuts and bolts of the charges except for two points: these children were orphans in largely Russian speaking Donbass which had been continually bombed by right wing forces in Western Ukraine for 10 years and; to instigate such a potentially explosive investigation in the near hysterical current climate, justice wouldn’t get an invite to the party.
Where do you begin with this imbecilic move by the International Criminal Court that neither the USA or Russia are signed up to? Its ridiculous on its face in that there is no believable scenario in which Putin would actually be arrested and what this warrant has ensured is that no peace deal over Ukraine can be brokered between Russia and the West in the short term. Also when the collective West has shown itself to be in thrall to the USA and NATO, its military extension, its nonsensical to believe that the ICC could be impartial while the timing is too suspicious given that the war in Ukraine is at a tipping point not in favour of the collective West.
