Day 44

It would seem many of us are following similar patterns: feeling tired in the evening and going to bed earlier, then waking up before 5am. I’m not sure it’s such a bad thing if our bodies are following a rhythm. We pride ourselves in our individualism in the West but being a unique idiot is nothing to be proud of. Our uniqueness doesn’t lie in us taking our own path, it’s about walking the same path in our own way. You can do that in synchronised activity by contributing your own unique talent towards a collective end. Something like Riverdance is a great example. The synchronicity is breathtaking and the more similar they are the more amazed we become.

Whatever your view of China and whether or not you blame it for the Coronavius, it’s coordinated efforts, the speed and efficiency of its handling of the crisis, is impressive. The way Cuba has reached out to the world is comforting and Venezuela’s response towards its own people when it’s under so much pressure from US sanctions and military activity, puts our government deeply in the shade. Without wishing to plaster over the cracks (China does have a poor record on human rights) it certainly has lessons to teach us. The sham democracy we champion to the point of inflicting…
