This has blown me away. It sums up the colonialist, Western patriarchy perfectly. It creates a toxic, dependent world, removing agency from those who could otherwise manage their own lives, then comes to their aid with solutions that serve its own interests.

Its not only the corporations that promote this behaviour but also NGO's and environmental groups with little geopolitical understanding.

Apart from the gender aspect, I see this in the UK where local government is hamstrung while local communities, with no understanding of how communities work, get funded and make no real difference.

Frankly, we are being gaslit while policies that are square pegs in round holes are foisted upon us. Its inevitable that women bear the brunt of societal ills because society is built that way. You can't fix such a society, you have to dismantle it.
