This is something I've grappled with for some time and its good to have this to hang my thoughts on. The close connection with the armed forces began troubling me a few years ago yet I acknowledge that for vets this can be an important connection. The entire event is dissonant calling us to consider war so we don't repeat it yet also lauding it because we won.
