Time to Get Real as Syria Falls
From the wishing well to the threshing floor
We need not weep for Bashar al-Assad, he’s no Lone Ranger. However the fall of his regime is world shattering. Those of us looking for a chink of light amidst an ongoing genocide will sense the darkness closing in like a heavy black curtain. We can see the demons revelling in ecstacy in the halls of power in Tel Aviv and Washington. I can see Keir Starmer and David Lammy quaffing their Chianti in 10 Downing Street, imagining it to be the blood of the genocide they so enthusiastically endorse.
Those on the left, celebrating the demise of an evil dictator, will not get any likes from me. They are wilfully igorant of what’s at stake, not getting the nuance that true peace makers and negotiators understand. There are no good guys in world politics but even amongst the worst there are leaders with some level of integrity and moral intelligence. The most evil regime in the world have been given the red light to pursue their goal unhindered. I’m talking about the USA. Struggling Israel and zombie Ukraine have just recieved a blood transfusion and even as semi-corpses they can still serve a purpose.
