What we can take as a win is this government giving ground, not that its really giving us anything but is on the back foot. The flip side is that it's tightening its grip internally with cynical arrests and threatening protests.
What should be noted is Lammy's tone. While he acknowledges the suffering of Palestinians he only condemns Hamas. He will not condemn Israel for anything. He blames settlers but not the IDF. Hostages are murdered but Palestinians just die. What Israel does is regrettable yet what Hamas does is horrific.
In response to jeremy Corbyn asking what effect the license suspension will have Lammy reminds him that the UK's contribution of arms to Israel is around 1% and says he can draw his own conclusions. But that's a cop out when the parts BAE systems supplies parts that are significant despite being a small percent.
