While this is akin to racism I think its important to distinguish it from racism because otherwise we put everything into a cesspit of awfulness and its hard to argue critically. Racism is historical and based on the false premise that there are distinct races so justifying the supremacy of one race over another.

The word I tend to use is 'othering' , which is what racism does but doesn't necessarily have an historical connection.
