Without giving Trump any credit at all, his crimes are of a different kind to that of the autocrats whose machinations are hideously sinister and corrosive. Trump is a crook to his core but although the consequences of his actions (particularly in high office) are as serious as that of any other POTUS they are easier to assess and quantify.
